3D Sailing

    Doug Lord Flight Ready

    It is fascinating to see the incredible AC 72's sail for sure. But all of them so far have the skipper/helmsman sailing the boat in a "normal" way but with the manually adjusted main foils the skipper controls altitude as well.
    I read this morning that on one of the Little America's Cup boats the skipper steers and controls the wing. The crew is dedicated to "flying " the boat by controlling the angle of incidence of the main foil.

    It will be interesting to see how 3D Sailing works out with the different approaches...
