35th America's Cup on Foils! ---ACWS Toulon

Practice Day light air-no practice-forecast for tomorrow light air as well. These boats can't foil in under 12-15 as I understand it.

That's odd. The day one leaderboard correlates to the inverse of the point standing. As they say "I guess they just wanted it more".

35th America's Cup on Foils! -----Maserati Foil

Interesting thing about the "uptip" foil on Maserati's stb side: the foil itself is almost a 90 degree "L" but the trunk in the ama is so angled that the foil hits the water as a conventional uptip foil. We know it works like an uptip foil because the heave stability of the stb ama is excellent when flying with no regular adjustment of the AOI of the foil.

Sort of like the same foil being used on an AC 50 and being canted top out 15 degrees. It would then be able to be used as a straight "L" or an uptip foil. But it would not legally also be able to be canted bottom out 15 degrees since total travel is limited.

    stb ama coming at you:
