| Strongall As I understand it Strongall is a monocoque method with reduced framing. With a Cat there are plenty of opportunities to create the stiffness through the paneling alone longitudinally, one would then need to get creative with the bridge-deck. The likelihood though is that the boat will be heavier than a framed boat unless enough stiffness can be introduced through the shape (like corrugated roofing). Sufficient transverse stiffness would have to be designed in to stop the boat flexing and twisting as well as resisting the rigging loads. Have you a preferred yard? |

| i thought weight would also be an issue, but in comparing several frp cats in similar size i get 9k to 16.5k lbs vs my estimate of 13.8k for Strongall. granted my estimate may be off, but i would still like to discuss with a designer as to practicality. safety is my main issue, and sandwiched frp just doesn't do it for me. no yard yet, since no design exists, but that would indeed be the next step - to find a yard with Strongall experience. |
