i beleive you may have the term wrong sir the spur latch is an electrical component that is used for latching the chassiy or drive in place that to me is a mechineist job any other trick questions you may have and if you were to look it up you will find what i say to be true

no sir i dont but on large vessels such cargo and ro ro that is what it is perhaps you can inlightn me on small vessels outside of my fathers fishing boat and a friends angler i have no experience of small crafts

Actually Shug it tends to be the bigger the boat the bigger the spur latch. Now that must be a clue .

perhaps it should yet it doesnt ring a bell although when i think of latchs on large vessels i think of embarktion decks and cargo holds and the deck latches they have

It's a leather strap with what's usually referred to as a 'buckle', but maybe someplaces it's called a 'latch'.
