| Joining a fiberglass cabin to a steel hull I have a 44' steel hull and would like to remove the steel cabin by cutting it off just above the deck and replacing with a newly built fiberglass cabin. I am looking for suggestions on how to join the fiberglass to the steel. Bolting? Joining the fiberglass to the steel? ........ Also are there any issues with this? Is this a bad idea having fiberlglass mated to steel? |

| If the structure is not compromised by this modification the big problem is the difference in expansion rates, but it is common enough . Weld a stainless riser in place use a polyurethane sealer (or other sealing gasket) in a layer at least 8mm thick and bolt through a cover plate then the FRP then the riser. Hope this helps
