Glen-L boat plans

I am looking at building a Glen-L 55' steelboat. Has any one looked at there plans or built one.
I am a experanced (33years) Boilermaker welder so i feel that I can do the welding.
One more question, being new to this, what is chine style.

Hi Jack
Presuming you mean their Lodestar? Ask them for a stability curve (half load) and also a number for the Prismatic coefficient. I would also ask what scantling rules the vessel will meet (if any).

Chine is a good method of construction for metal boats where the plates are not compound curves, so the interfaces between plates are an abrupt angle. Makes for faster building, no compund plate development and some advantages in ease of repairability roll damping and longitudinal strength.

Thank you for your reply. I sent you a e-amil, with some answers to your reply. That also had me asking more questions. I checked with Glen and they seam not to kow the answers, I do beleve that they are a broker for the plans.

Yes but fully contracted with 10 months or more work, so unable to provide much support, we do mainly commercial, we have started a variety of stock steel yacht designs which are being worked up in our quiet times.

We are down to 2 Pro Engineers with no support staff both of us working from home offices so yacht design has gone west for the moment.

Have one full fairly detailed design for a 55 foot ketch to offshore survey which we have the rights to. Other work for commercial interests are unfortuantely not ours to sell. Can get local designers to design interiors to any wild desire.

Canned the website only created hassle, may try one again in the future.

The yacht designs are not very profitable but as a long time sailor they interest me.
