Force to collapse steel pipe?

Hi there,

I am trying to find the force (kg or N) required to collapse the end of mild steel pipe.

Websites/ data tables, formulas, anything would be of interest.

The Pipe:
Medium Black 1" nominal bore
dimensions: ID 27.3mm, OD 32.7mm

The pipe must be made flat in order to weld it.

(its currently flattened using a highly calibrated sledge hammer and a finely tuned concrete floor...)

thanks for your help,
Rob

For one boat, use concrete. Otherwise get a metal fabracator with a small hydraulic press. Your arm and eyes will love the press.
