Electrolysis damage repair on Aluminum

What would be the best methode to repair damage done by electrolysis on Aluminum. I'm thinking that a Aluminum loaded epoxy applied like "Bondo" over the damaged area would do the job "up town". Appreciate any ideas.

As a temporary repair, why not. Sooner or later you will have to weld a patch in.

But imho you can leave the Al powder out when using epoxy putty.

You know you will have to etch the Al surface prior to apply the bondo!?

Regards
Richard

Didn't think of etching the damaged area since it's pitted but, the smooth area around it, yes, good idea.
Thanks.

You have to etch it all. The corroded area has already build up a oxide layer after some seconds.

Well not that easy. Is it structural, plate or is it skin? If not structural or thin skin, then Sand Aluminum to bare metal, etch, neutralize acid, then zinc chromate then liquid epoxy, then epoxy filler, sand then overall liquid epoxy, sand then paint. If structure weaken or skin then have to well new piece else epoxy wont really fix problem.

It's a pontoon boat. I'll ask the manufacture the thickness.
