Articulating rudder

I have tried before and got no response so here I go go again. Does anyone out there have experience with articulating rudders on displacement boats. Are they worth the extra complexity, cost? I would appreciate any comments.

If you mean "trim-tabs" on the trailing edge of rudders? I recall something around the time of Bondy's challenges and eventual win of the America's cup.

The distant memory seems to recall something like the effort in trimming (an extra man) weren't sufficient to further develop/use - effect was similar to adjusting the trim on aircraft and to point higher or improve vmg to wind.

No, these are rudders with hinge that allows the rudder to bend in the direction the rudder is turned by a simple mechanism that can be seen at the following commercial links.

Steel Trawler. If your having problems with slow speed turning. Then yes this will solve the problem. However lately I have had a lot of luck by simply adding a wedge to the end of the rudder.
