    Hi everyone,

We are an iranian boatbuilder. We build boats such as small ferries. Recently we've got an inquiry for ambulance boat to provide Emergency Medical Services. We don't have any idea about the main particulars of such a boat and no previuos experience.
Is there anybody who possibly can give us some tips and hints or any designer or design company having experience of an ambulance boat?

I appreciate everyone's help and advice!

This company designed the ambulance boat curently serving the local comunety where I came from.
From the top of my head design for a ambulance boat would be waterjets.
If your in a seartch and rescue operation you don't want nasty proppelers sucking in people and cutting them up.
Easy acces by weelchair and stretcher. clean power generator for medical instumentation(constant Hz 50 or 60 not 47,51 or 62,59)

The dimension of the boat is dependant of the invironment, is it going to operate in deep water off the coust, shalow rivers?

    Small Rescue boats??

On the small end, active rescue, look at: These purpose-built boats for rescue from a Marine Accident. Here are a couple photos of a rescue 2 weeks ago:

    (Page down just a bit...)

They have more info at their website:

They have several years of close-in on-the-water rescue experience.

Maybe something like this would be an option on a large longer-distance "Ambulance/Critical Care" craft. These boats can roll a wheelchair on from a beach or dock, slide a stretcher from water or land. You could ask them about their approach for transferring a patient to a larger boat.

I work for a Naval Arch. & Marine Engineering firm. We have experience with patrol craft, lighterage, utility and landing craft. We'd be happy to help. Let me know if you would like to discuss the design.
