aluminum boat plans????

I really wasn't sure where to post this so figured I'd put it here and if it isn't the right place let me know and I will copy and paste it somewhere else.

I'm a welder and live down here in Louisiana and I have found several custom aluminum boat builders and there all highly priced boats.

I have searched many builders and i must say all the boat builders are pretty close as far as there designs go of the hulls like the flat bottom and semi V bottoms are really all about the same. I would like to know how do I get my hands on some plans to build my own aluminum boat? This is something I will do later in the future while I have actually just purchased a alweld aluminum boat which is a good boat but I know later on I will want to build my own and be able to set it up more for what I want. I have thought about copying alweld design a little and just well make it better but would like to see if there are any other designs out there?

I've tried searching for plans online but a lot of the boat plans I'm seeing are more for boats that they have like in Alaska which are jet boat plans.

To give you an idea the company called Hankos.com they have a very nice boat design in the V hull I like a lot. Here is another guy in my area that builds boat and this is his v hull which I like a lot to http://www.alumaford.com/index.html

Do you guys know of any plans online for Hulls like these two manufactures??

thanks guys I'll start reading, I guess I could find one of these boats I like around and buy the owner a case of beer and ask if I could take some measurements One of my friends has a nice flat bottom boat that is like bullet proof but really want a v bottom boat to build

Glen l is old fashioned over heavy stuff from the 50 s......If you have I balled what you want and are a welder then what you need is a plan of the panels for you to cut out ...thats easy ....draw it up with carene software .then export to Freeship (not delftship) and touch up your desigdn then develop the panels and print out with all the measurements .... I can do a simple V bottom 16 ft in under 20 min. click this blue link .......Carene Software Its here ... The developed plates in carene are rubbish which is why you must transfer to Freeship ..Trying to design in freeship from nothing is very very hard going and time consuming but transfering a carene xyz file makes it easy.

I think I tried downloading that delftship maybe it was, I was totally lost and I tried clicking on carene and nothing came up. I must say I do have a apple Mac Book Pro so somethings this computer won't open. It's late built see if I can get it to work again tomorrow.

Well the link is good its been downloaded 52 times ..Not Delftship Freeship ...delftship will not do the developed plates in the free version...

Both Freeship and Delftship are available for Windows only, not sure they will work on a Mac, unless it has Windows installed.

Chris, could you be a bit more specific about the type of the boat you're interested in? From the Alumaford example in your first post, it look like you're searching for a bass boat plans?

easy ..specify width of bottom at rear /front /midships angle of sides and height for one plank ..job done ..export and adjust to your liking .print panels and get welding

Thats what I'm thinking it can't be hard but i need to see if I can download this program, my old computer has windows but dam it's slow as hell and may not take all the information.

I don't know a lot about computers is there a way to down load windows on my apple computer?

Should I go to my friends boat and just steal the angles of the transom? or how should i go about that because all these flat bottom boats none seem to have a transom straight up and down there all angled back a bit
