Watch your head!

Just thought I'd throw this one out there. Possibly someone could offer some insight or kust kick the idea around with me:

I'm restoring a motorsailer that has some areas where headroom is a little lacking. Mainly on beams and bulkhead thru-ways. These are places that I know either I or some future crew member is going to hit their head good. My idea is to get some of that casting silicone or poly-urethane stuff. It cures the consistancy of rubber. Next, I'd make a mold of some simi-decorative moulding/trim My final product would be a flexible, good looking trim piece that would be easy on the noggin.

What do you guys think? Should it be painted or pigmented? How should it be affixed to the beam?

Thanks,
Dave

5200 or RTV? Put little dots of it on. So you can remove it when needed.

...Or you could cut holes through the cabin sole and hull and step down under the beams...

You may use pipe insulation foam sleeves. Cheap and easy to apply.
