underwater primer

    want to know if there is a generic local paint supplier for priming coat on underwater aluminium boat hull. GP 48 general paint /OR? not sure off epoxy costs?

    They own International Paints which have a variety of primers and antifouling paints for aluminum boats. ( and finish coatings as well)
    It is recommended that you use the same manufacturer for the primer and either the finish coat or antifouling to ensure compatibility and adhesion
    Another I think in Surrey is Endura, same deal

    Most of the westcoast, BC, aluminum boat manufacturers use one or the other, so the paint is proven in the PNW

    I would recommend an ablative antifouling paint, just because it is easy to clean for future coatings, ie it sloughs off so only needs a light high pressure spray and wipe with the
    solvent and it is good to go.

    The pigments in red do not seem to last as well as the other colors for antifouling

    Yes stick to one system whatever it is.
