teak and holly plywood

Thanks David, ive laid up soles with thick sawn veneers and birch strips in the past but not for years, for me its not just the thin veneers but the panel they put it on, at the price they charge they could at least put it on a bs1088 meranti panel. On the boat i am working on i am now replacing the stbd side cockpit seat where someone had put there foot through it, as usual it was caused by rot where a tillerpilot bracket had been previously mounted and the holes not dealt with properly. Anyway,its just a 78" x 18" panel and while it looked to be laid teak it was actually just 1/2" ply with a nice thick face veneer of about 1/8" (1/2" total) with margins routed in and saw kerfs filled with epoxy/graphite. Im replacing it with 3/8" meranti with 1/8" sawn veneers.

World Panel Products, Inc. out of FL have Teak & Holly plywood with a premium face, Call Chase and tell him you are looking for a Deal (hes known to bend over backwards for customers). I believe CATBUILDER got about 200+ sheets of ply from them in May of 2010.

Everyone is going to carry regular Teak & Holly with a thin face cause they know the end user HAS to seal it in order to protect it, so why have a MEGA thick face your going to seal off anyways. People with high traffic yachts will then go Premium face Teak & Holly cause they know they are going to deal with the high traffic, drunken sailors and or Dawg Paws

Catbuilder did not. He ordered from Boulter. On regular okoume, Boulter has Bs1088 made in Europe, with actual, documented Lloyd's certification. I have a copy of the current, valid Lloyd's register plant approval for the okoume.

Does world panel have that kind of okoume and supporting documentation?

I know they have Loyds Material I picked up Austin Power Plywood from them a few weeks ago. BESIDES If a company KNOWS what material goes into building the plywood, as well as monitors the species throughout & stays consistent with thickness of faces I don't care if they spend 20 thousand or not to have a company tell them that they are doing it right. It doesn't matter, as long as its kept up to specs. Ide rather a company save the money and give it back to the end user in savings for the ply.

Everyone has there likes n dis likes about ply. I just saw you say you loved Boulter ply n the next guy says he hates it... I see people on forums say that hate Chinese ply, yet they are telling you from there iPhone (made in China).

It's pretty obvious who you are. If you were going to come on here and pretend not to be yourself, you probably should have picked a town other than the one World Panels is in for your location?

Here is a picture of some 12mm, BS1088, Lloyd's Factory Certified Okoume I just received from Chris Boulter.

He sure charges a lot, but IMO, it is worth it, because you have a boat that is more structurally sound in the end.

Yes we do have Docs to support Loyd's approved 1088 Marine Plywood.
Thats a Dwight Schrute FACT.
Also we approve material by our own factory.
World Panel Approved of America!

I believe we are just trying to keep it affordable for the average user.
