Anyone have heard about or tried "Spherecore" from "Spheretex". This is a felt-like material comparable to Firet Coremat but with apparently better mechanical properties. It is available in thicknesses up to 10mm ( 3/8") and is more of a core material than simply a bulking material. It is made in Germany.Looks like a good alternative to balsa or PVC cores as it has even better physical properties ( +-35% resin content, very low water absorbtion) and displays very good mechanical properties too.

    Danielsan Amateur designer-builder?

    looks good

Just had a call with them today, looks good, altough they do most of comparison between Balsa and them not much between PVC and them

If price is good I might go into this material, you can ask them some samples

Would be nice to know and hear someone who uses this material.

    Greetz,

zerogara build it and sail it

It seems exciting, can't wait to try some samples of it.
Coremat is no core, it is just a lazy man's way of building volume, disregarding strength and weight, and I've found people comparing these.
I tried it in some small molds and it is not worth a crap in my opinion.
Older hulls with coremat show delamination in stress areas.
