Skin coating in Vinyl Ester

Hi

We make products for swimming pools. Currently we just gelcoat the front and topcoat the back of the products. But we are thinking of putting a 'skin coat' of vinyl ester resin to back up the gelcoat as we have heard this helps prevent osmosis in the long term.

Can anyone comment on this?

Dresca, sounds good, the pool industry uses vinylester tie coat here in Aussieland, if your products are fully immersed use it on the back too or all the way thru & emphasize the quality/price point- all the best from Jeff.

Appreciate the reply. I was told to go about 2mm thick with the V/E on the front. And to use a lightweight CSM. Would couple layers of 200GSM sound about right?

225 split strand csm or 300GSM(1oz) choppy is the usual, from jeff.
