| Seam compound-wooden boat I am building a 40' caribbean fishing sloop in the Grenadines. We are coming to the planking stage and i'm looking for the material to use in the seams above the waterline after caulking with cotton. The locals favour traditional home made putty: dries, cracks and falls out. The Yachties suggest weste: too hard. jamestown suggests 4200. Any other suggestions? |

| Go to www.woodenboat.com then click on "WB On-Line Forum". Select "Building / Repair" and then scroll down to find "WB FAQ Building and Repair, ver. 2.0". Scroll down to the "C" section and read to your heart's delight. There are some pretty experienced fellows posting there; it is a good resource. Be warned, though; don't go down into the "Misc. Non-Boat Related" section unless you want to read endless American political rants and personal attacks - there is a small group of rather ill-mannered people who have become inextricably lodged in there. Where are you in the Grenadines? I worked in St. Vincent (Calliaqua) for a few years in the mid-nineties. Lovely place. |

| Two part polysulfide, properly primed, gives best results.
