Rhino liner style covering So I can't find the thread that had the name of the company that made a coating for marine applications similar to truck bed liner. I just got a 86 Boston whaler 19 military hull that I am restoring. The gel coat is very bad shape bc the previous owner didn't primer. The boat is banger up and i am using it only for fishing and surfing so appearance is not a concern. I wanted to use one of these coating on the whole thing after I sand and scrape. I want it to be really tought. This is a budget rebuild so money is tight but recommendations on a brand would be great.

"The gel coat is very bad shape bc the previous owner didn't primer." I'm not sure what you meant by this. Low budget, don't bother with any coating, put the money someplace else where it will do more good.

Sorry fornthe bad wording. The previous owner glasses over some of the hull while doing repairs. Then he didn't primer he went strait to gel coat. There is a ton of delaming cracks. I scraped some off and it's seems fine just ugly. I sent a email to sani tread to see about there product.

No primer is used when applying gel coat over a repair, sounds like he did a poor job though. You can clean it up, sanding for the most part to prep the surface, you can use gel coat or paint after that.

Thanks I didn't think primer was used and the few repairs I have done we didn't use anything. He was a little off to say the least.
