question about carbon mast manufacturing

hello everyone!
i'm looking for information about the manufacturing processes used widely for mast building. to be more specific, i'm interested in constructing from scratch my own windsurf, using carbon fibres and epoxy resin. i would appreciate any kind of information, especially related web links.
thank u all in advance

Keen Windsurfer + composite technologist

Forget trying to make your own windsurf mast, the second hand market could offer you even a 100% carbon mast for much cheaper than you can to make a mould, buy carbon and resin and build it, yet alone get the correct stiffness curve for the sail. There is more technology than you think in windsurf masts

Boat masts is different, here you are not requiring an imcs value of stiffness and one can build a mast very cost effectively as long as it is within safety factors

Carbon Spars

I would tend to agree with Henry, it would be best (ans less costly) to buy a carbon spar than to make one on the same level of quality. Most carbon spars/masts are built using prepreg tape and autoclaves. Unless you have access to an autoclave (and for that matter a sufficient mandrel to wrap the tape around) its best to let the professionals deal with the manufacturing.

In the US/Canada, these would be Hall Spars, Offshore Spars, maybe Novis Composites and Maine Composites (newer companies to the CF spar market), and Forte Reinforced Textile Structures (who I believe does some posting on this site).
