Plywood material properties I'm interested in using marin plywood as a core material in building powerboats. Does anyone have specific technical data covering material properties like flexural strength, tensile, compressive etc.? The plywood will be sandwiched between inner and outer skins of fiber reinforcement, but need to know the ply props in order to determine the overall laminate strength. Thanks and regards, Scott Seale

This data is from ,,Interessengemeinschaft Deutscher Akademischer Fliegergruppen'' (German Aeronautical Students Union?). Plywood DIN (German Industry Norm) L182 and L183 - Tensile strength in direction of the outer layer: 700 kp/cm2 - Tensile strength perpendicular to outer layer: 600 kp/cm2 - Compressive strength in direction of outer layer: 450 kp/cm2 - Compressive strength perpendicular to outer layer: 420 kp/cm2 - Flexual strength: 800 kp/cm2 Very important for sandwich!! - Youngs Modulus in direction of outer layer: 100000 kp/cm2 - Youngs Modulus perpendicular to outer layer: 70000 kp/cm2 (Compression is the same) Questions? kjarke@yahoo.com

Hmmm....Not making sense??? Why plywood core? Then you are restricted to flatish or constant camber shape. Also figures requested will vary with species, etc? There are better ways.......
