| Paints for Lower Units? Wanting to repaint my lower unit with gloss whatever. Have sanded all the existing paint and primers off down to bare aluminum. #1) Should I spray a industrial epoxy primer on first and then top coat. #2) Spray an aluminum etch primer first, then a epoxy primer and top coat? #3) Who makes an industrial paint for this type of application? #4) What kind of paint is it? (epoxy, polyurethane, etc). Tried Rust Bullet for this process and it wasn't a pretty picture after the product cured. Product blisted up and actually pulled away from the LU during cure time. Sprayed the LU with etch primer first and top coated an hour later. Definitely not going that route again. My thoughts are industrial epoxy primer and an industrial epoxy top coat but not quite sure how well the top coat will hold up on a LU which will be under water for hours at a time. And, does the indusrial epoxy top coats come in gloss? Live in Florida if that makes any difference. Thanks for all the input in advance. |

| start with aluminum moisture cured urethane (MCU) such as aluthane (tm) then just topcoat with regular enamel. |
