| Iroko - bending and glueing properties Can anybody assist me with information regarding material selection for my canoe outwales? I believe Iroko is a very hard and durable wood (it is also quite expensive in my neck of the woods) and often used for outwales. These applications talk about screwing them in place though. Being an oily wood I suspect that it does not take to epoxy glueing in place very well. Can anybody confirm this, and perhaps comment on using ash / iroko laminates for the outwale to save a bit on cost? Also, does Iroko steam-bend well? Thanks! Jan Theron www.kanoefabrik.com  |
