I never said mix the filler at the EXPENSE of the hardener. I just said add the hardener after the filler. obviously, I am assuming that the people I'm talking to have enough sense to mix the hardener in well.

clarification...

microballoons as the name suggests,are micro balloons,,and expand the volume of the mix -making it less dense and lighter,,so is used for less structural applications and fairing.
silica is also referred to as 'antisag' and helps a fairing mix -not sag-.When adding it to a mix,it does not expand the volume of the mix,so is best used when fuller resin density is desired such as joint bonding.
It is great to get used to self-mixing and blending these,as a given project can be best affected with different blends/densities of the above,,,,,as well as resin types from poly,Iso,vinyl,or epoxy-depending on the job demands/economics involved.
As for effective MIXING,,for larger batches you can use a paint mixer such that attaches to a drill.-best to avoid whipping much air in,tho--just don't go high speed.
