| I pulled out my old book on ferro cement boat building. 'How To Build a Ferro Cement Boat' by Sampson and Wellens, two well known personalities in the ferro scene. I scanned in the section where they answer the question regarding how to fix a hole. It is attached. Pretty much what we've recommended, beat out the old mortar, fix the steel, re plaster and seal with epoxy. |

| I am about to pull my 45' ferro up on the weighs to fix a L shaped tear in the port side. What do you recommend I use as my mix? Portland V or portland III cement? I have the weighs for a week, then the boat has to be back in the water. I was told by the boat works that it was a benefit to cover the entire patch with epoxy and cloth. Do you recommend this? Will this ensure a water tight seal? How long after I repair her should I keep a damp towel on the patch? I will only be able to towel the inside as it will be in the water. What epoxy should I use as a bond between the new and old cement? |

| Please open the attachment in post #16. It will answer your questions. Use a good, strong quick-setting mix. West system 3 or equal quality epoxy should be fine. Dampen it for 2 days should be adequate before letting it dry for epoxy.
