fiberglass roll; determining length by weight and width?

I want to determine the length of a roll of 2oz x 60" e-glass deck cloth that I have. What would be the formula for determining the length of the roll by its weight?

Length (in feet) = Weight of the roll (in pound)*1728 / ( yd sq weight(in oz)*width(in inches) )

ex Roll weight=50 Lbs

Length = 50 Lbs * 1728 / (2 oz/yd sq * 60 ") = 720 feet long

This formula is OK for cloth and roving. For Mat replace 1728 by 192 because mat weight is by sq ft.

Thanks for the reply. I not great with math, so I have to ask why did you use 5lbs in the place of 50lbs?

The roll itself is about 9" thick by the 60" width. I'm guessing that it weighs in at about 100lbs or so. I still need to put it on a scale, but it really takes two to carry it around. So using your formula I'd use 10lbs instead of 100lbs? I'll try and get it on a scale this week. There are no marking on the roll, I don't know the maker, but I do know it is nice 2oz cloth.

Well at 100lbs (guessing) it is 480yrds? Could that be right seeing that it is roughly 9" thick x 60" wide? Any idea what lenghts do 2oz cloth usually come in on a roll?

Are you sure that you have 2oz cloth? It's look very light. For cloth, the weight is by sq yd. 125 yrds long is a common lenght for a roll.

Look thoses links:

You will find many good information.
