fairing a 30 foot bright hull

    Thanks Greg: I actually did this a bit. Problem was it would not cut through the old varnish consistently at the 1/32nd inch setting. It would skip then cut intermittently. I used a circular sander at low speed with and 8 in disc and 40 grit on the finish. That worked well but took a bit of wood. I did not want to plane after that. Instead I faired by hand with a log board and 80 grit paper which was work but it came out really well.
