(dubious) sizing on glass cloth

Hi all,
I'm working on a low budget epoxy/glass over ply project. I've bought some glass bandage from possibly dubious sources. I've had some difficulty with wet out. One 4" product seemed ironed flat and the edges (about 1cm, either side) refused to wet out. Another (8") has patches that resist wetting out. I suspect bad/contaminated sizing. (Yes, I've encapsulated ply before applying glass).

Can I cook or solvent rinse or otherwise fix the glass?
Would thinning my (low viscosity) resin help? If so, with what? (The less poisonous the better)
Any advice gratefully received.

Buy different glass, it will cost far more to use glass that may not work.

It's an odd, old-fashioned word. Last time I came across this usage was with gold leaf, and that was 40 years ago No - I wasn't gold leafing a boat, though its an interesting idea...

 

Most fabrics made now are fully compatable with epoxy, but some old style fabrics can cause issues. The things you can try aren't usually worth the bother. Sized egdes on tape is a common problem wiith these tapes. A good hard shaking can make a difference, but also tends tosrew up the weave a bit.

 

You have no ideae what you have so do as ondarvr says buy new.
