carbonology.com I genuinely am not launching this thread to get free publicity, but really am after feedback on what you think our new website www.carbonology.com looks and 'feels' like and if there are any products you think we should stock alongside the carbon fibre (or fiber if you're across the pond) lines we are currently holding. One suggestion has been to stock smaller panel sizes of high grade marine ply for those little mods and jobs that don't warrant a full sheet - would that be a good idea? Let me know what you think... Thanks in advance Penfold

Very professional looking website. One improvement would be to clear up the first page and focus it into exactly what you're selling. The pics of bikes, yachts, planes, and cars are nice but confuse the customer. By the way, what are 1mm solid rods used at? Cable replacements?

The 1 and 2mm carbon rods are used for fishing floats, model aircraft control rods and very lightweight kite spars amongst other things - but that's the point of the site, we source and supply the carbon and composite sections and materials for customers to use on their project, hobby or sport regardless of what it is. Interesting point about the pictures - the idea is to show something of interest to all potential users and not concentrate on one particular group... One of our major areas of interest personally is skiff and dinghy racing and design, but we felt if we concentrated on that on the front page, we might reduce the appeal to model plane builders, race car enthusiasts etc etc Thanks for checking it out.

How about a bigger selection of carbon Tube, say up to 3" DIA, or better still foil sections, we know you can make them Gareth www.fourhulls.com

What kind of foam is "T-Foam"? Will it retain water if submerged and or dissolve when exposed to gasoline/petrol products? Last edited by kach22i : 01-07-2006 at 10:18 AM. |

T foam is Corecell's T500 polyuerathane core foam - we're using the 50kg/m3 stuff mainly. Never seen it retain water, and not tried it with gas, but guess over prolonged use in a solvent it will degrade. When we laminate it between 2 skins of woven 3k carbon (2x2) prepreg and cure it at 120deg C we always seal all the edges. It may be more expensive than Plascore or Nidacore, but in fairness thats because it's in between 2 layers of expensive carbon prepreg fabric. You should see how stiff it is when we do a 15mm thick panel - you can walk on it without it deflecting, but it only weighs about 1.25kg/square metre! - thats like 1/4 lb per square foot in American! Grob, re: 3" diameter tube - we're stockists for CST tube from AUS, and can get the stuff as quick as you like, although it's not on the site yet, and foil sections are very likely once we know what sections and sizes people want. - Seriously, if you need any stuff just give us a call to discuss.
