| Typically the glass sheath is not to add strength but to provide an extra layer of protection by way of a hard, dense surface which also gives an excellent surface for 2 part paints. I have always glassed ply or cold molded hulls i have built, usually fairly light cloth 4 or 6oz glass or better yet dynel.I am suprised that Dudley Dix does not specify sheathing but as i mentioned in my last post the Searunner i just repaired was just sealed with epoxy,no glass and had lasted very well.
