| I've never tried silver polish, but headlight restoring polish works very well. I use a 3M product, which also works on plastic chrome pieces used on cars now too. |

| From ehow: http://www.ehow.com/how_8097909_buff...ic-window.html Toothpaste for the deeper scratches, then furniture polish; change buffing bonnets between.

| Capt. Ram, use 500 grit wet sand to remove deep scratch, then smooth with 800 wet, then move onto the polishing stage, first a course compound, then a finer compound, then the polish. I use machines to apply and buff, so I don't trust tooth paste and furniture polishes from glazing up, or possably burning from the buffing speed. You can do it with these materials, but you have to go slow, which to me just isn't practical. I've been using some 3M products for years and they kick yellowing, and clouding issues out the door quickly. Deeper scratches need to be abated down uniformly or you'll have some distortion, so working a machine makes this much easier. |
