Best epoxy for use in tropical and humid climates.

Any guys have a recommendation? Probably have to use a suitable slooow hardener.

best epoxy for the tropics

I would suggest going on to the Gougeon bros site www.gougeon.com and asking them. They do the WEST system and would give you a recommendation.
I believe there might also be an issue with how the epoxy stands up to heat generated from solar radiation and raisin the temperature under dark paint. I think you paint your launches dark blue, don't you?

Dear Lonerider,

I have had great success with system three. Their gel magic and silver tip has an 90 minute pot time and will cure close to the same time as the regular. I live in south florida and today was 90 degrees ferinheight. I layed up two complete laminates. I prerfer it to any west product.

Great people also...

Most of the major manufactures have a very slow hardener available and all work pretty well until you get over 90 degrees. West System's 209 seems to provide slightly longer pot life then System 3's products, but it marginal.

I use a proprietary mixture when it's over 90 and it provides a little more then an hour with 100 degree temperatures. All the major brands produce a good product, with very similar physical properties.

If you have a lot of epoxy work to do, you may want to contact a local manufacture or even one of the major goo makers. They can mix up a special batch for you, for not much additional money.

Proper technique can greatly increase your pot life too, so practice your methods to increase the working time you have available for each batch.
