Currently working on a wooden gigging platform rebuild for saltwater use. Wondering what the best epoxy is on the market. Currently using some 3M 5200 and some Marine-tex for some of the structural corners and cracks.

    Welcome to the forum.

There's no such thing as the best epoxy. Of the marine grades, they all are very similar in formulation, so much so, that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Some are formulated to be less viscous, which is great for wetting out fabric, while others have more "body" so they bulk up quicker as an adhesive, bond or fillet.

3M5200 is a sealant, and though it does have good adhesive qualities, it's not really very good as a glue, especially on wood that will get wet/dry cycling regularly.

As to epoxy, you can go wrong with the major brands, though you'll pay through the nose for them. Alternatively, the stuff over at epoxyproducts.com and bateau.com are much lower in price, but have similar physical properties as the big players.
