| Anodizing Zinc Info please Zinc castings and coatings on steel can be anodized to produce a tough stable coating. The corrosion resistance is said to be excellent. Being used by the military immersed on subs for such high corrosion problem areas such as mooring cleats with good results. To quote Eastern Alloys "A special zinc anodizing treatment is available for zinc castings. This coating is completely different than that for aluminum alloys. Zinc anodizing is a functional coating providing maximum corrosion resistance in atmospheric and marine environments. Since the process uniformly coats deep recesses and threaded areas, anodized zinc alloy castings can serve as an economical alternative when replacing traditional brass, bronze and stainless steel components. Steel items can be fabricated, hot zinc dipped then anodized. The durability of such fittings are said to rival that of stainless steels. Deep scratching does not apparently compromise the durability. It sounds very exciting. What I would like to know is whether anyone knows the exact process sufficient to set up a plant.

| D'Artois Hoe gaat het? Not for me but for a friend with a castings and coatings business. I think the market is there for marine parts if the process is affordable, but I have no idea of the process and didn't even know it could be done till I read an engineering tender document for some Naval supplies.
