| Aluminum windlass protection/refinishing The expensive part of boatbuilding has caught up with my catamaran project. I just bought to used Simpson-Lawrence 555 windlass. One is complete and working ... and the other arrived in pieces. Both need to be rebuilt. The first part I want to attack is the cast aluminum case. I can degrease and sand blast it for free. Then what? Send it out for Hard Anodized coating and a powder coat finish? I have found a few places reasonably close that do specialized coating. They probably have little experience with coatings destine for salt water environments. Any one have some advice? Thanks in advance. |

| nero, anodising and then powder coating would certainly be a good treatment, i cannot see any way that would in fact be any better.
