Aluminium or Steel

Which is the cheapest material to build in... aluminium or (properly prepared) steel?

I guess that depends on who you talk to

steel requires more maintainence, but is cheaper and easier to work with (easy to weld)

al is obviously the opposite, harder to work with, more expensive, but requires less maintainence

Steel has increased in price to levels that make aluminum a practical option. It is hard to tell how long the price will remain at these levels. It also depends on who is doing the building. Different material, different skill level.
