| 14' fiberglass jon boat restoration Do i need to use marine grade plywood to replace the transom wood? Can i use non treated plywood from my local lumber yard? |

| well you can but no one will advise it ..always assume however good a fibreglass job you do that it will get wet at the bottom and non marine/exterior ply may not be made with waterproof glue...if you are selling it on completion of the job well maybe yes.... |

| You can, but how long it lasts depends on how well you seal it, and how well you keep it sealed. By that I mean, holes drilled or cut into the transom have to be sealed as well. And I would use an epoxy resin to seal it all up. It is certainly a lot better to use marine ply. But pistnbroke is right, you have to assume it will get wet. That's the nature of transoms.
