Swift Solo #069 - For Sale: $5,000. OBO

The time has come for a difficult decision. But it's been almost 3 years, and my progress has completely stalled. I took a new job a year and a half ago, that keeps me on the road for 4 to 5 days a week. And building full time on the weekends just isn't working out. My wife is understanding, but not quite that understanding....

I'm interested in seeing someone get into the class, perhaps someone that just doesn't have the space to lay up a hull and deck. But can handle the final fitting.

Now a little bit on the current state of #069

The hull is complete with bulkheads and center board case installed. We used a 'wet' layup for the highbred interior, and strapped in a number of bulkhead forms form the strong back as it was curing. This did a very good job of maintaining the designed shape of the hull, especially in the bow. The full and partial bulkheads were installed initially with a drop of hot glue to check position, then epoxied in. The filets still need to be (should be) laid over with strips of highbred, but having them exposed will make visual inspection easier by the buyer. The centerboard case was installed with the assistance of a laser level to insure squareness with the hull. (You may notice that the carbon tape running down the hull centerline is not square with the centerboard case. It slid.

A 'wet' layup was used on the fiberglass for both the hull and deck outer layer, and the highbred for the deck underside was vacuum bagged. There are 2 layers of highbred on the deck from the transom to the mast step, with a single layer forward of the transom. I felt the additional strength offered by the two layers of highbred, balanced with the bagging process would create a deck that had the same weight as a wet layup. But provided additional impact strength on the dance floor.

She is currently wrapped and sitting on her build cradle. Awaiting her new owner.

The remaining work can be easily completed in a back yard, or better in a garage. The final fitting of the deck to the hull needs to be completed, and the 'soldiers' installed. Then its on to fitting the deck hardware, and joining the deck to the hull - the SwiftSolo community is very supportive and can answer any questions you may have regarding the process. After that, its all about the running rigging and foils.
