Weed Blocking Intake on Vicalen Jet

I have an old Vicalen Jet & use it in a lake with long ribbon grasses which seasonally float to the surface. This blocks the intake filter on the bottom of the hull forming a mat. Has anyone had this problem, if yes how did you solve it please??

Thanks All
Suggly

There is many types of propulsion all suitable or not suitable to various kinds 0f use.

A weeded lake would not be suitable for jets and would fall under the air boat catagory.

A rake type strainer would only eventually block the intake or at least restrict it rendering it unsusable.

I don't believe there is a solution you would consider reasonable.

You might want to sell the boat and buy one with a prop.

Google CAM.A.PROPULSION, Pivotal Drive, an easy to build trimming propulsion drive that will go most anywhere safely and easy to free from weeds if it does catch some weeds and is safe from damage. Run it in Surface Propulsion or lowered down 20 degrees like a conventional prop drive. You can even fit a water jet that is trim able too. Try www.youtube.com/SuperHakane for an Air boat with horizontal fan for something really innovative.

Suggly - Jet with weed blocking intake filter

Submarine Tom is probably close with 'sell it and buy a boat with a prop"; has anyone converted from jet to stern drive????? The engine is 150hp Hino diesel.
