trim tabs or place diverter

i have a 21' Hallett with a 454 and berkely jet. I was planning on adding a place diverter but was told that trim tabs were better. Not sure what i should spend my money on. Any ideas?

On lakes and for intermittent use, the Place diverter is a good choice. But despite its perfect white coating it is very sensitive to corrosion in seawater.
