ski nautique needs motor and tranny... I have made an offer to a guy for his 1999 ski nautique. The motor and tranny have been removed, not sure why. I contacted a nautique dealer and he told me the orginal motor was fort GT40 with a 123:1 tanny. He also told me PCM makes a plug and play GM motor/tranny that will drop in for $13,000. That is a little more than i was wanting to spend. I want to know if I was to use a 350 short block what kind of troubles would i run into or is this even possible?? thanks, josh

I own a 1993. The engine is a pretty standard Ford V8 + marine mods. But I don't know where you would get a new transmission.

Yes you can do all this that you have mentioned, it all depends on your skills. You can drop in any V8 basically but the old motor to swop the mounts would have been a good start. Transmissions are ubiquitous its not a big job to an engineer. I would ask for the old engine just to get the mounts, get the mounts and your half way there.

| You just need to check whether the original tranny was a down angle or not. If not then its easy, it if did then you will need to find out if the engine will fit if you use a straight box. My guess as it was the 1.23:1 reduction it was a down angle. I would try to buy the original tranny and then use any engine with that. The smallblock windsor fords have more torque then the same size chevs, thats why they used them.

http://www.correctcraftfan.com/reference/manuals.asp has some manuals that should help. You can use a carburetor and distributor if you want.
