Repowering a 1968 correct craft san juan Hi, I have a 1968 correct craft san juan. It has a chrysler 318 in it right now but I think I would like more power since it is a 24 ft. cruiser. The 318 needs a little work anyway so I think I just want to swap it out all together. My question is: Can I use a GM or Ford motor or does it have to be Mopar? It has a velvet drive and I have heard that they will bolt up to different engines but I want to make sure before I buy a new engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Charles

I can supply stainless one piece watercooled headers which will give you 10-15% more HP and torque without other modification.

Hi, manifolds are not cheap as hand crafted. USD$2,295.00 pair. 5 year warranty and weigh 12kg pair. I need to know what configuration manifold/riser you have as there are several variations with shaft drive Chrysler. Go to www.victorianmarinetechnology.com.au and send me jpg by email. I will give you pictures and technical data.

Dave, go to the correct forum, Ie, maybe Powerboats, and start your own thread. Explain yourself properly there. (not here) What do you mean, "what should I do?" Is it offered for free? Is this the sort of boat you want? What use do you want to get out of a boat? etc. etc. Start your own thread, and then work from there. Hans.

Dittos, the velvet drive trans will work fine with either GM or Ford Engines. You will need the appropriate Bell housing for GM or Ford. Either make will work. GM engines are probably easier to find since more are used in boats these days.

| Boating??????? Hello Ditto !!!! Thank you for the reply.I am just a baby to all of this,so any info would help. The boat I have is just fine for me and my fam, cause I can do alot on this boat ,fish ,cruise ,go fast,{providing I can get it running} thats what i'm looking for,so thanks for asking. What I would like to know is where can I get parts for this monster, and how do I know if I'm getting taken from a mechanic or not???I have so many ?s,I don't know where to start. My biggest ? is there a site I can go to that can direct me to somewhere in my area to get this thing sea worthy, and have somebody start working on it,that being the las vegas area.I get the feeling I'm going it alone on this, but thats ok, I can do it Thanks again ..... | Inboard help http://www.skidim.com for inboard engine and velvet drive parts. Not always the best price, but always good advice from people who know inboards. http://www.correctcraftfan.com Go to forums. Lots of help available from people who love Correct Crafts. More oriented to the CC ski and wake boats but all the mechanicals would still apply to your boat. You may be in the middle of the desert but some of the marinas around Lake Powell, etc. should service inboards. Again they are probably more geared to the ski/wakeboard boats. Ebay is also a possible source for engines, however you need to know what you want and have some mechanical knowledge before attempting to repower on your own. Good Luck and have fun! |
