| recommended flexible stuffing box tubing I need to replace the stuffing box tubing on my inboard diesels. The original was 23 years old - no marking left, can't tell what it is. I've only read that "reinforced" tube is recommended. |

| If I recall correctly, standard practice is to use wire-reinforced hose meeting SAE J2006 standards for all raw-water applications. I suspect that hose meeting this standard is also suitable for stuffing box tubing, but don't quote me on that.... at least without a couple more opinions from the members with more experience than me.

| You often see hose with double cloth reinforcement. If the distance between the end of the stuffing box and the tube is very small I don't see any problem.

| However its built , the hose will be really THICK , so it can resist the torque from a tight packing . FF |

| The usual hose is a fiber (textile) reinforced one in that application. Sasha |
