| Mounting Twin engine on wooden hull I am currently building a 36' boat. I am planning to put two inboard engines in it. Probably 2x 160 HP. Can anyone recommend a good way on how to prepare the mounts according to the pics. this is how it looks ... thanks... |

| If your engines are going to be in the rear close to the transom mount 2-2x6(hardwood) engine stringers 20"-24" apart attached to the transom running forward at least 4 frames. 2x2" verticals 1 at each frame attached to the frame and to the engine stringers. The 2x6s should be layered on the outside with 1/2" marine ply to prevent cracking. If your mounting the engines more central then run the stringers all the way to where the stem ends at a frame with 2x2s vertical at each frame. Each pair of stringers to serve 1 engine and transmission. With a pair you have to be right on with your dimensions. Being spaced 20" to 24" between allows you to bolt steel or aluminum angle to the stringers and then drill for your engine mounts. Hope this helps you. Bolt everything. |

| What material for the bolts knowing they could be kept moist in the wood?

| Hot dip Galvanized iron--if in salt water Bronze would be better but 5-9 times the cost. this company makes the best I've seen--very heavy coating.http://www.fastenerconnection.com/pr...d=323&dllist=0 |
