help with impellers

have an 88 four winns with the 4.3 omc cobra impeller went on me trying to replace and have been told that when the outdrive comes off the throttle sometimes has to be either in nutruel full forward or full reverse so i am trying to find out wich position it is supposed to be in to take the outdrive off thanks for any help

if you haven't done this yet. the impeller is on the back of the drive eaziest one there is. all you have to do is remove the three cover bolts and the four water pump housing bolts replace impeller go
