Location: Conn in summers , Ortona FL in winter , with big dock & room for O'nite stop .
If you want a low cost setup , forget MARINE and take a look at the local yard tractor scrap yard.

10hp is not a big deal, and pulleys and a V belt are cheap to overhaul .

No kidding- that's actually a great idea, and if heat build up is a concern I'm sure there's a way you could plumb a small heat exchanger into it.
