| You have other posts with the same question. Seakeeping is the behavior of a vessel under certain weather conditions. It depends on many variables and on the SOR. For example, on a search and rescue vessel it would be the ability to self-right after a knockdown or rollover. A motoryacht is designed to be comfortable. Depending on the SOR, expectations are very different. You have to decide what the intended use will be.

"Some Considerations in Power Cruiser Design," by George E. Meese, published by SNAME, Spring Meeting, Lake Buena Vista, FL, 2-4 April, 1973. "Seakeeping considerations in design and operation of hard chine planing hulls," by Daniel Savitsky and Joseph G. Koelbel, presented as part of a training course to the US Navy, Combatant Craft Division in May 1978. It was published in The Naval Architect, journal of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects in the UK, March, 1979. This second reference was further developed by SNAME in Technical and Research Report #R-42, "Seakeeping of Hard Chine Planing Hulls," by Savitsky and Koelbel, November 1992. Don't forget the book "High Speed Small Craft" by Peter DuCane, first published in 1951, fourth edtiion 1974, by David & Charles (Holdings) Ltd. in the UK. It discusses mostly hard chine planing hull forms, although early on gives some insights into round bottom hull forms. If you understand the discussions of hard chine planing hulls, you'll gain some insight into other types of hull forms. The SNAME and RINA articles you may be able to buy direct from those organizations. The DuCane book comes available from time to time at specialty reprint stores, such as DN Goodchild or J. Tuttle Maritime Books. I hope that helps. Eric

| Was the OP talking about planing hulls? I don't generally think of either round-bilged or deep-vee hulls in that category....
