Spreadsheet/calculator for conversion purposes?

Hi,

I spent some time searching for conversion calculation tool - with no success. What I am looking for is some kind of spreadsheet where I could enter parameters of the diesel powered boat (existing one) and receive at least the power of the electric engine to be installed for equal propulsion effect. I roughly know that electric motor can have its nominal power lower (times .7 ?) than the diesel equivalent, but having it calculated more exact way is beyond my knowledge.

Besides, anybody could recommend any book covering the issue in a practical way?

Piotr
