electric sludge battery bring electric cars to mainstream

perhaps boats also
http://utopianist.com/2011/06/electr...attery-sludge/

simply pump out the depleted electrolyte sludge and pump in new fully charged.
You can also recharge this like a normal battery.
MIT came up with this, and it makes a lot of sense.

This is the first "battery breakthrough stories" that could be the real thing, especially because the author admits there is still a lot of (sludge) development to do and a working prototype is planned for 2013.
Most other stories originated from journalists who clearly didn't know what they were talking about, but this time it seems to be different.

I think the "half price" is related to todays Lithium batts , not old wet lead cells.

Well half of current lithium would make evs in many kind of uses much much more sensible. But I am not holding my breath. It's all so small dispersed and new industry that to think that we would have infrastructure for changing your sludge in 10 years is not gonna happen. Takes 3 years to decide whether it's bluray or hd-dvd...

Don't see it happening.
