Why do my PDF's fail to download??

I'm new to the forum and am surprised and delighted to find such a pool of puter knowledge. I publish a free printed paper for boaties in Australia and put the "E" versions in PDF's on my web site for free download but they are cranky! Most people are used to just left clicking and go but mine fail most of the time going about it that way. You usualy have to right click and "save target as" to do it which puts some people off. The files are less than 2 meg, some only a couple hundred kb but still.....

I would be very grateful if someone knows the secret... I've tried everything I can think of... I will happily send a few copies of the printed paper to whoever can help.... and a carton of beer if you are in my neighbourhood! oh BTW, we have adobe 7.0

Cheers

Bob

Have a look in Internet Explorer's settings, and find out which application it uses to open pdf files by default.

You might also like to consider using Mozilla (or Firefox) which are more secure and faster.

Greetings Tim

thanks for your reply but it doesn't appear to be in the browser end of things. I do have firefox and explorer and it faults equaly on both. It appears to be in the manner I am saving them or uploading to the site. Something to do with my use (or miss-use) of adobe 7.0

I have also eliminated my host as a problem as I have a .com and .com.au site with different hosts with same problem both sites.

Cheers

Bob

Worked fine for me, I see no reason why it should be a server-end-problem. Sounds like adobe 7 doing funny things. try an older pdf reader. Adobe is well known for "quirks" in thier interpretations of the pdf standard.

Hi Bob,
Have had a go at looking at the pdf's, had probs with issue 20 and the larry ed, but no probs with 22 or 21, or 19, then tried the larry and ed 20 again and had no problems, all loaded fine with a left click in the end, no idea but might be at the users end and not your end?

The inconsistancy of the quirk is the frustration. I am pleased that it wasn't total for you guys, I hate to think too many people are losing patience with it.

The thought was that I was doing something wrong in the process of converting to pdf from the corel production program we use. I'm starting to believe in gremlins!

Anyway, thanks for your effort and comments. I do appreciate it.

cheers

Bob
