.fbm to .IGES convertion (DelftShip to Rhino 3D) I would be very grateful if somebody would be so kind and convert (export) my .fbm file so that I can open it as a precise 3D surface in Rhino (seems to call for an IGES file format). I'm goin mad with tracing the hull lines and every time I loft the profiles the hull has some unwanted imperfections (wrinkles...). Please do help me. It's a matter not only of the project, but also of my personal health ![]() Kind regards, Jakub

Thank you micspoko for your help. I do appreciate your feedback However I reckon that you exported some mesh file out of DELFTship ( either .obj or .stl, rather .stl because of triangulation ). That's not quite what I was expecting for.I tried this method some time ago, but it hardly satisfy me. IGES file is a NURBS surface perfectly working in Rhino. I can make exact deck edges (sheerline connection in particular) and I am not restricted in rendering mesh resolution. What is more working on IGES surface allows me to transform it with multiple tools (trims, offsets ( solid shell ) etc. ). If someone has pro version of DELFTship, then one can convert easily my file to IGES ( for a beer for him )

Why don't you try to use Freeship? I routinely export IGES from Freeship to Rhino with no problems encountered so far. You can find it here: http://www.hydronship.net/index.php?lang=en Cheers

Indeed, exporting IGES file from FREEship is working well, however I have to remember to model the surface in the FREEship, not in DELFTship. The reason for that is FREEship does not recognise the .part files of DELFTship. By now I'm reconstructing the whole model point by point (control point) from DELFT to FREE. Then the export is not a problem at all ![]() Thank you, daiquiri for reminding me of possibility to export IGES files using FREEship instead of DELFTship, where this feature is unavailable in statndard version ![]() Regards, Kuba
